Mission Minutes

Mission Committee Minutes                          January 10,  2012

 

 

Members Present: Pat Hawthorne, Terri Allen, Rosalie Minor, Lucia Garron, Alicia Cargill, and two new members Nancy Allen and Sandy Royster.

 

Pat called the meeting to order with prayer. Budget & Faith Promise amounts reviewed. One payment will be paid from Faith Promise for January to date.

 

After discussing our bleak financial situation and not being able to meet our budgeted monthly line items, Terri made a motion to ask that the remainder of the parking lot ministry be transferred to the mission committee until we are able to rebuild funds in Faith Promise and/or receive our normal allotment from the general budget. The motion was seconded by Sandy. Motion passed. Pat will request this in the next Finance Meeting.

 

Pat recommended we use Patrick from YWAM to speak on Faith Promise on Mission Sunday. Pat will notify the committee if this is possible. It was also suggested that Vidmer Downing should be considered as a 2nd if Patrick can’t make it. Alicia made it clear that there was a time limit that had to be strictly followed of no longer than ten minutes for either of these potential speakers.

 

The price of the mission luncheon was discussed and we decided on a minimum donation of $5.00 per person would be appropriate. We will spread the word that we hope for larger donations from those who are willing to give more to help cover the cost of the meal and help rebuild Faith Promise account. James and Terri Allen are in charge of the luncheon. Sandy agreed to take care of the table decorations. Set up will begin at 9:00 am.

 

Discussion was held on coming up with possible fund raising ideas to help us meet our budget obligations. We discussed taking any fifth Sundays or Wednesdays available to provide meals and various other fundraisers for the congregation and community.
