REV. RENNY SCOTT
NOTED AUTHOR AND SPEAKER
Moving from the Kingdom of Politics to the Kingdom of God was the exciting and dynamic journey of Renny Scott. Our Pastor Emeritus, Bro. Jim Fillingim has been facilitating the Wednesday night study of Questions of the Heart. Renny went to high school and college with John Kerry, former Secretary of State. At Yale, George Bush, later President, was a year behind him and George Pataki, 3-term governor of New York was his roommate.
Renny Scott studied political science at Yale and at Harvard’s J.F.K’s School of Government. His plans to pursue law and politics were interrupted when he met Christ on September 3, 1968. As an Episcopal Priest, he served in two of the fastest growing churches in his denomination. On Pentecost Sunday, 1986, he stepped down from the priesthood to become a layman serving God among the poor in inner city Atlanta. Five years later, God began to draw his heart toward discipling the next generation, and he spent twenty years investing in Christian Education.
